VOLUNTEERING ACTIVITIES

Manufacturers, retailers, and distributors donate their surplus food items to The Food Bank Singapore. These food items are still safe and fit to eat but may have lost their commercial value due to approaching sell-by date, labelling/ packaging errors, discontinued brands, surplus inventory, or minor recipe variations. Volunteers will do inventory taking and food sorting, discarding food items that have past the expiry dates etc.

Willing Hearts operates a soup kitchen that prepares, cooks and distributes about 5,000 daily meals to over 40 locations island wide, 365 days a year. Beneficiaries include the elderly, the disabled, low-income families, children from single-parent families or otherwise poverty-stricken families, and migrant workers in Singapore. We are looking for volunteers to help in preparing the meals such as cutting and washing vegetables, food preparation and other ad-hoc duties needed at Willing Hearts.

Volunteers will bond with residents of Society for the Aged Sick over a meal, working hand-in-hand to prepare and cook the dishes together.

365 Cancer Prevention Society is a non-profit community in Singapore where cancer fighters, caregivers and their loved ones can share personal stories, support one another, and be educated on how to prevent and cope with cancer. Volunteers can find out more on how they can do their part for the community by volunteering their time and befriending patients who are terminally ill.
